HOMESCHOOLING DURING QUARANTINE? Here’s how to make it Easier!
1) Respect your own teaching style
We each have our own strengths and our own way of communicating. You need to teach with your own style to be most effective.
2) Make only useful lesson plans
Just write down a few things that you don’t want to forget (like the books to read aloud or concepts to talk about) and leave it at that.
3) Set time limits for teaching
Start setting limits on your teaching. For example, when the clock strikes 11a the student doesn’t have to listen to your history lecture anymore! They love that, and it keeps their attention on the subject at hand since they know an end is in sight.
4) Make learning fit your family
If you can make homeschooling adapt to your unique family culture, you will have more resilience and joy for it in the long run.
5) Understand your student’s unique learning style
If you can appreciate, celebrate, and maximize your student’s unique learning strengths, you’ll ignite their love of learning and take pressure off of yourself.
6) Buy fewer workbooks
The key is to have just what your visual learners need, and no more.
7) Relax and take it easy
The biggest way to make things easier for homeschooling is simply to relax. When you quit pressuring yourself to be the perfect homeschool parent, you then have the freedom to love learning along with them. And that’s what it’s all about!
